Pizza Hut is trying out ‘subconscious ordering’

By Matthew Lyle • December 21, 2014

Pizza Hut’s newest proposed app has a “subconscious ordering feature” developed in partnership with Swedish eye-tracking innovators Tobii. It works like this:

Step One: Open the app with a touch, or by glancing at the application icon
Step Two: The app opens, showing you images of the most common pizza toppings
Step Three: As you gaze at your options, the camera in your phone or tablet tracks the movement in your eyes.
Step Four: Based on the assumption that your eye will linger longest on the topping you want, the app prepares a suggested order based on which toppings you looked at longest
Step Five: You approve or modify the suggested order

Pizza Hut admits the app is still in development, but say that they should be live by the end of 2015.
