McDonald’s big all-day breakfast advertising push has finally begun

In a couple of new TV spots that will air over the next few days, viewers see a variety of McDonald’s fans using their social media chops to telegraph to the world that McDonald’s is now serving breakfast all day. Emoji, in particular, are heavily referenced in the two Burnett spots. This work will certainly appeal to social media addicts, but others, perhaps less so.

McDonald’s USA vice-president of marketing Joel Yashinsky said the “Anthem” commercial from DDB and related work will play out over the next five weeks, before the burger behemoth takes a break in November to focus on NFL promotions. McDonald’s will return in a big way to all-day breakfast advertising in December with some new work. And there will be plenty more after that.

“The all-day-breakfast will figure significantly in our marketing game plan for the next 15 months,” added Yashinksy, who said much of the new advertising will spotlight food photography in new and dramatic fashion, often in more natural, real-world settings than has been the case previously.
