Snapchat is Adding More Kinds of Camera Ads to Attract Big Advertisers

Last week, Snapchat announced that it will sell sponsored World Lenses—virtual effects that can be displayed in the real world through the app’s front-facing camera—as well as targeted lenses and smart geofilters. The moves come as Snapchat maker Snap Inc. faces intense scrutiny to grow its budding ad business in the midst of fierce rivalry from Facebook. By enhancing augmented reality features and guaranteeing a certain number of impressions for targeted audiences, Snap Inc. hopes to attract more advertisers and alleviate investors’ fears.
