Summer of Snapcodes: Why brands including Evian and Wendy’s hopped onto Snapchat’s barcodes this summer

Snapcodes, or Snapchat’s version of QR codes, are being pasted onto various product packaging from brands like Evian, Wendy’s and Gatorade. Using these codes encourages consumers to unlock things like branded filters, lenses, and custom websites. The potential for increased customer engagement is huge, and on top of that, it comes at no extra charge to advertisers. However, Snapcodes aren’t for everyone and the effects are hard to measure.
