Snap’s “Shockingly Low” Internal Data Reveals Why its Spectacles Glasses Flopped

While the Snap Spectacles got a lot of marketing hype, the glasses have turned out to be a major retail flop. Only 150,000 pairs have been sold to date and of those, most of them don’t get used for more than a month. It is unclear why the Spectacles did not receive the anticipated popularity, but Snap Inc. is happy they surpassed their goal of selling 100,000 pairs. However, reportedly there are hundreds of thousands of Spectacles still sitting in storage, waiting to be sold and Snap has a $29 million commitment in hardware inventory.
