How Many People Did That Story Reach? It Depends Who’s Counting

Buzzfeed and Mic are among several companies arguing that counting “unique viewers” for ads on platforms, like Facebook, does not provide the full picture. In 2016 Nielsen, best known for measuring TV audiences, launched a product that can measure audiences for video and text measurement across websites and social platforms. This new product, Digital Content Ratings, has been adopted by 35 companies and represents over 60 digital brands.
