Burger King hijacks MacCoin promotion as McDonald’s beef continues
By Sara Shaw • January 18, 2019
Back in August McDonald’s US released MacCoins commemorating the 50th anniversary of its Big Mac burger. 14,000 stores gave out the coins to customers buying Big Macs, it entitled them to claim back a free burger before the close of 2018. Burger King Chicago recently announced that expired Mac Coins can be used to claim a free Big King XL, its new burger it claims has 175% more beef than its rival patty.
While there are hoops to jump through, the stunt still serves as a bold attempt to tarnish its rival’s celebration of its iconic Big Mac product.
