McDonald’s has signed New York Giant’s wide receiver Victor Cruz on a two-year deal to promote their new Mighty Wings product.
Cruz, who was represented by IMG vice president Carlos Fleming in the negotiations, will appear in both Spanish and English commercials for the product.
McDonald’s USA vice president of marketing Peter Sterling said in the press release, “Victor celebrates his Hispanic heritage and we think that is a great way for us to talk to our Hispanic customers.”
Unlike recent signings Joe Flacco and Colin Kaepernick, Cruz has been offered a multi-year deal. Sterling explained this decision: “Our intent is to use Victor in other ways, including public appearances and some other PR activities,” he said.

“Victor is a great representative of the brand. He’s a great representative of the NFL, so we feel it’s good to have this relationship with him.”
Cruz, Flacco and Kaepernick are the first footballers to sign national endorsement deals with McDonald’s since the fast food chain’s league-wide agreement with the NFL in November 2012.
