New ‘Spoiler Alert’ App Works to Minimize Food Waste

According to the US Department of Agriculture, 30-40 percent of food in the United States goes to waste. The new app, “Spoiler Alert,” is taking steps to help food businesses connect with local non-profits to reduce food waste and get it in the hands of those in need before the food spoils. This would save businesses money and solve food management problems among other benefits. For nonprofits, it helps connect them with healthy food sources for discounted price.
