Shutdown: Bad for U.S., good for cable

Many consider local news or news in general as a dying daypart. However, when economies grow or weather hits or scandals break, the TV news is still a go-to source.
During the recent national news of the government shutdown, cable news became the beneficiary. The big numbers are a reminder that while people do rely heavily on online news these days, they still turn to cable news for coverage of big events as they are happening.
That’s not likely to change anytime soon, if ever.
