Google Wants to Tell You What to Eat

Google Maps has already asserted itself as a do-it-all app in the restaurant industry. Now some of Google’s other products are taking advantage of the vast store of information Maps has collected, establishing themselves as critical components to the restaurant experience, too.

Google Lens, an image recognition app baked into Android cameras first made headlines with its ability to immediately translate different languages. Now it can read physical restaurant menus, highlighting so-called popular dishes. When a user taps on a menu listing, Google pulls photos of the dish and reviews from Maps.
