Why Twitter’s Buy-Now Button Won’t Be a Gravy Train for Brands

AdAge takes a look at the future of social media as an ecommerce platform. Right now, people come to social channels to keep up with their friends, view funny videos and engage in conversation, not to buy or even consider buying things. This lack of consumer intent for shopping in social channels could make for a long uphill battle for Facebook and Twitter to be credible ecommerce platforms. However, Twitter’s Buy-Now button could be a good first step towards establishing social media as an ecommerce space.
