Facebook Tries Selfie Commerce With Augmented Reality Ads

As social apps continue to compete for control over consumers’ cameras, Facebook has introduced new augmented reality ads that will appear in people’s News Feed. The ads allow people to try on virtual renditions of products. Brands like Michael Kors, Bobbi Brown, Wayfair, Pottery Barn and others have already tested the ads. Facebook is second behind Snapchat to connect shopping and augmented reality. While Snapchat pioneered the shoppable AR lenses, Facebook’s reach is too dominant to ignore.
