Facebook Unveils ‘Journalism Project’ To Strengthen Media Ties And Promote News Literacy
By Lauren Stacy • January 13, 2017
Last week Facebook announced its plans for the Facebook Journalism Project, an initiative aimed at promoting better media reporting and consumption through collaboration and training. By partnering with journalists, the site hopes to develop new storytelling formats, monetization options and support for local news content. The network also plans to launch training programs for journalists on how to best use the site as a tool. Lastly, in the wake of controversy over the circulation of faux articles on the platform, Facebook hopes to work with third parties to promote news literacy on and off the site.
