In February of 2018, Postmates partnered with Working Not Working and Vice to launch a FoodFight! Pilot. FoodFight! set out to combat food waste in the restaurant sector. The project was a huge success, and now FoodFight! is live in 19 total cities. Since May 2 of 2019, the FoodFight! initiative has grown from 650 activated restaurants to more than 3,000 FoodFight! activated restaurants who can now donate their excess food to nearby shelters. Postmates is now able to donate food to shelters that run on business hours, as well as the already existing 24/7 shelters they already work with. With FoodFight!, thousands of pounds of food waste has been put into the hands of people who need it the most.
