A startup based in Dusseldorf, Germany called Welect has created an app that gives users bus transit credit via QR codes in exchange for watching advertisements. Watching four 20-second ads earns users 2.60 euros of credit valid across the city for 90 minutes. The venture has proven successful thus far, with credits drying up within hours and talks of expanding the service into other cities as early as next year.
