Wendy’s jumps into the chicken-sandwich Twitter feud between Popeyes and Chick-fil-A

On Monday, Chick-fil-A’s subtweet of Popeyes new chicken sandwich sent off a social-media frenzy. Twitter exploded with a debate over the battle between the two restaurants’ chicken sandwiches. Later that same Monday, Wendy’s decided to get involved in the Twitter war. Wendy’s tweeted on Monday afternoon, “Y’all out here fighting about which of these fools has the second-best chicken sandwich.” The Twitter war continued that night when Popeyes quote-tweeted Carter Wilkinson, the teenager who received free Wendy’s nuggets for life for getting retweeted more than 3.4 million times. Popeyes responded to his tweet that asked, “how many retweets to never tweet again?” which was directed towards Wendy’s. The biggest surprise of the night was Boston Market getting involved in the feud. Boston Market decided to call out Chick-fil-A for its mac & cheese being sub-par compared to their own mac & cheese. Chick-fil-A’s rapid expansion has perhaps made itself a target to other QSR’s in the world, which may be why they kept quiet during the Twitter frenzy.
