12 Fast-Food Trends for 2020

The QSR industry has seen a wealth of changes with culinary diversification, menu optimization and tech innovation leading the way. The article below contains several trends predicted for the QSR industry in 2020. A few include:

1. More LTOs will be going global – Liz Moskow, principal at Bread and Circus Consulting predicts that items on global menus at chains like McDonald’s will make their way to the US as LTOs, “bringing in that global vision of food with products they’ve already tested abroad.”

2. Plant-based offerings will continue to grow – For many restaurants, plant-based meat offerings will be attractive from a health perspective and for some, better for the environment. While people are increasingly more aware of their diets, this doesn’t mean that indulgence will go away.

3. More ghost kitchens will materialize – The rise of ghost kitchens is coming. Moskow predicts that bigger QSR players will have dedicated ghost kitchens with menus that will be available for delivery only.
