Dunkin’ is launching a breakfast sandwich with Beyond Meat sausage

The chain has started selling a breakfast sandwich made with Beyond Meat’s vegan sausage at 163 locations across Manhattan this past Wednesday with plans to roll out the $4.29 sandwich nationally soon. Dunkin’ is the latest fast food chain to start selling meat substitutes. Others, such as Burger King, Hortons, and Little Caesars, have also partnered with Beyond Meat or Impossible Food (Beyond Meat’s main rival) to add plant-based foods to their menus. The new sandwich is served with egg and cheese, making it not fully vegan. Dunkin’ is “looking at” a fully vegan sandwich, but for right now they are focused on targeting “flexitarians”. Beyond Meat and Dunkin’ worked together to develop the fake sausage which is only available at Dunkin’. The companies plan to continue to partner on new products. A plant-based option could help entice more customers away from competitors such as McDonald’s, Panera, and Taco Bell.
