Veggie burgers have a bad rap, but new developments in meat alternatives could entice quick service restaurants to add them to menus everywhere. Startups like Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods have begun making veggie burgers that emulate real meat in both taste and texture, thanks to innovative ingredients like pea protein and beet juice. While these patties can only be found in grocery stores for now, fast food giants may soon explore the meatless trend, taking a cue from brands that already offer veggie burgers, such as White Castle and Wendy’s.
