Panera Wants FDA to Call an Egg (and Only an Egg) an Egg
By Sara Shaw • January 24, 2018In an effort to promote their new egg breakfast sandwiches, Panera is calling upon the FDA to create a clearer definition of the term “egg.” This stunt is aiming to push the fresh ingredients of their new sandwich, specifically eggs. While they don’t call out competitors by name in their letter to the FDA, Panera reviewed eggs from chains including Starbucks, Burger King and Dunkin’ Donuts.
